Daltons in AFRICA -- KENYA: Masai Village Visit Pics.

In the far distance is a
Masai boma and all their
cattle. In the foreground
are two warthogs! This
is the actual village
that we visited.

Over this hill is where
the new school is being
built. Our $20 went
toward its construction.

These six Masai women
sang and danced a
"welcome song" to us.
It was neat to see!

Next, we sang and
danced with them. Dawn
is to the left, Jeff is
to the right, and Carol
is in the middle. Carol
and I have wedding
necklaces on, and Jeff is
holding a peace stick.

Two Masai men are
demonstrating how
they start a fire.

It didn't take them
long at all!

The middle of the boma.
This is where all the
cattle are herded to each
night to protect them
from predators.

A hut. You can kind of
see Carol, which gives
you a perspective how
high the ceiling is
of this dwelling.

Ben, the chief's son
and our tour guide.
He's standing in
the central "living
room" area where
the fire is located.

Masai children. Most of
the children we saw
wore western clothing.

Looking down at the
Masai Mara at their
cattle. This is an
opposite view of the very
first picture up above.

The Masai women
gathered into a semi-
circle to sell their
homemade crafts. This
is only half of the
circle. There was a
lot to check out!

Ben is standing in the
middle negotiating with
the women. I paid him
and he paid each of
them since a lot of them
didn't speak English.

Dawn, Ben, and Jeff.
This is our 2002
Christmas card picture.
I'm holding the
peace stick I bought.

We met a Linda in
Uganda, and she sent
this picture she had
taken in Kenya. She
wrote: "I went to
Africa to see the
animals, but I have
returned four times
because of the people.
This is an old Masai
woman who agreed to
be photographed after
being paid [a small
sum by our standards]."
