BUJAGALI FALLS PICTURE LINK

After lunch at the Jinja Nile Resort, we went here. Bujagali Falls are actually a set of rapids situated a few miles downstream from the source of the Nile River (Lake Victoria). The falls are a famous place to go white water rafting. Occasionally, the legendary 'Mr. Bujagali' (a spirit) is seen floating on the river on a bark cloth. Sadly there are plans to build a dam here which will drown the falls.

At Bujagali Falls we watched a crazy event. After our guide paid him, a brave soul jumped on a plastic jerry can and body surfed through the rapids! This surfer entered the Nile River upstream clinging to an empty jerry can and paddled madly toward the rapids. The river current grabbed him and he plunged through the crashing white water, being thrown from side to side and under the surf.

This is a seriously dangerous thing to do and should he lose his grip, he will die. Several people lose their lives each year from doing this. It was certainly sheer madness but highly entertaining! Check out the pictures!
