OBITUARY:

MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL
Thursday, January 9, 2003

Mr. Andre Parker, 33, of Corte Madera, CA, died January 5th, 2003 at Marin General Hospital following a lengthy and courageous battle with AIDS. Andre was born to Eileen Parker on January 30, 1969 in Monticello, New York.

He graduated from Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska in 1986, and he went on to receive his associate's degree from the University of Alaska.

Andre was a very dignified man. He loved life, people, and animals, and in his valiant struggle with AIDS he managed to stay positive and keep his sense of humor to the very end. Andre was a voracious reader; he also was a fine artist and photographer. He loved and collected alternative music before it was a trend.

He loved to shop and truly had a great appreciation for the finer things in life. He was well-traveled and had a gift for making those who came into contact with him feel special, loved, and appreciated.

Andre is survived and will be missed by half the planet, including the following family members: Brothers Charles Haskins and Jahi Jack; Grandfather Cary Parker, Sr.; Uncles Cary Parker, Jr. and Dennis Brewer; Aunts Sharon Parker, Louise Klassen, and Cristhal Bennett; First Cousins Reality Canty, Shimone Canty, Jyrmayne Canty, Cary Parker III, Kjersti Parker, and Jesse Bennett; Nieces and Nephews Eileen, Zakia, Victoria, Donald, and Charles Haskins, Jr.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Marin AIDS Project or The Marin Specialty Clinic in honor of Andre Parker. A celebration of Andre's life will be held this coming Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at their home in Corte Madera.
