Alumni Communication - August 9, 2006

Hello BHS Class of '86!

Wow, what a reunion! I think it was quite a success. The turnout was 74 alumni with a total of over 234 people when you include our guests and families on Sunday. Crazy! We had beautiful weather, good food, great entertainment, and LOTS of catching up that took place. I felt it was too short and most of it is a blur to me (I can't wait for the video!).

I must apologize now for my lapse in communication. My husband and I left a week after the reunion, came back to CA for one day, then off to a family reunion for four days in Chicago, then I had two weeks to prep for an upcoming gig, and then I spent the last two weeks working crazy hours for a conference at Stanford University. I'm exhausted.

But go ahead and admit it, you've missed the regular emails from me... ;o)

THANK YOU
I must begin by thanking those involved that got me the beautiful plaque, bouquet of flowers, and spa package. Thank you! It means a lot to me. I display the plaque with pride, and my husband and I plan on using the spa package this weekend. The plaque reads: "The Senior Class of 1986 -- Bartlett High School -- Recognizes -- Dawn Dalton -- 20 Year Reunion Organizing Committee Chair -- MOST VALUABLE ALUMNI -- For Her Dedication in Organizing, Coordinating, and Execution of the Reunion Festivities." Again, thank you.

FEEDBACK
I'm looking for two types of reunion feedback. What was done right, you loved, what did you think overall, etc.? I would like to use these comments on the web site so it's not always my commentary. I'm also looking for ideas on how things could be done differently or better. So send along your thoughts -- I value everyone's opinion.

VIDEO & MEMORY BOOK
Currently, Devin Quince is working on the video and Mark Earl is making the memory book for us. We're still aiming to finish between September 1 - 15th. Devin recently sent me a clip of the format he'll be using for the alumni interviews, and I keep thinking "how cool is this?!". Video footage of the school tour will also be included, which I felt was really neat to see and parts of the school I didn't even recognize!

You can still order a Video or Memory Book. Prefer payment for these (2) items is by PayPal which is located on the web site. However, I will accept checks but you need to send them immediately. Once the final draft of the Memory Book is complete, I'll be placing my order with the printer and no other orders can be placed. So order soon!

PHOTOGRAPHS ON CD
Giles Harrison graciously provided the photographer for the entire reunion, and she took GORGEOUS pictures. I mean, WOW! Thank you again, Giles. You're the best!

Photographs: Alumni Who DID Attend the Reunion
For everyone who attended the reunion, Giles recently sent you (3) cd's that contain about 900 pictures. Please check your THIRD CD as some were corrupt and don't work. Giles would like you to email him if your cd doesn't work, and he'll mail you a corrected cd.

Photographs: Alumni Who DIDN'T Attend the Reunion
For those alumni who couldn't attend the reunion, I will copy and send out a set of cd's if you place a REQUEST with me. Give me about a month, and I'll eventually get them all out. So email me if you want a set mailed to you.

25TH REUNION
The plans for the 25th Reunion were announced Saturday evening of the reunion. It's been decided that we'll have a reunion every five years, and we'll rotate it so that the odd years (25th, 35th, etc.) will be in the Lower 48 and the even years (30th, 40th, etc.) will take place in Alaska.

The 25th Reunion will be taking place on a cruise ship -- Mexican Riviera! In about three years, I'll start the final planning of it and details will start coming out. So start seriously thinking about it now -- it's going to be SO much fun!!

WEB SITE UPDATES
Over the next month or so, I'll be updating the web site with all the pictures, stories, and data from the 20th reunion. Parts of the web site are going to be getting a major overhaul, so please be patient with me. If anyone wants to help me with a new design, etc., please contact me immediately. Otherwise, I'll continue to use the format that's been set up and my hacking skills to add web pages.

Again, it was GREAT seeing everyone, and I'm really looking forward to the 25th! Please stay in touch and let me know if you change your mailing address, email address, or phone number.

Sincerely,
Dawn Dalton (Houghtaling)
